The Kedarnath Temple is considered to be the holiest sanctuary dedicated to the Hindu god Lord Shiva. Adi Shankaracharya is credited with constructing the Mandir in the eighth century A.D. It is situated close to the location of an older temple that the Pandavas had constructed. One of the most well-known temples in India, Kedarnath is also one of the oldest temples in the country, dating back more than a thousand years. After the devastating floods in 2013, the complex of the Kedarnath Temple is now undergoing rehabilitation. The newly constructed amenities include both helipads as well as guesthouses. There are also opportunities for making online reservations for Kedarnath. Online booking is available for the Kedarnath Puja, and devotees are not need to be there in person. There are certain pujas that may be booked in person or over the internet. The daily pooja rituals at the Kedarnath temple begin at 4:00 in the morning with Maha Abhishek and continue until around 7:00 in the evening, when they are concluded with Shyam aarti. Around six in the morning, the Kedarnath temple welcomes visitors from all over the world to perform the ritual of darshan. Before 3 o’clock in the afternoon, guests are allowed to touch idle and perform Abhishek with ghee. After 5 o’clock in the evening, no one will be able to approach Idle, but they will be able to get Darshan from a distance. Only during the six months of the year in which the sun is in the zodiac sign of Aries and the month of Scorpio is experiencing a total eclipse does the temple at Kedarnath open its doors to visitors.
