At a height of 11,000 feet above sea level, this community has been established high in the mountains. The Dodital trip is another one of those treks that you really have to complete. This journey is known as one of the most lovely treks in North India, and it has been drawing travellers from a significant distance away from other countries. This walk is called the Dodi Trek after a rare species of Himalayan fish, which is referred to as Dodi in the local language. Your journey down the Dodital will start at Haridwar, and then continue on to Uttarkashi. After passing through that area, you will find yourself at the captivating tiny town of Sangam Chati. After reaching that point, you will continue your walk, which will include an initially hard ascent that will lead you to the Agoda town. As you continue hiking, the trail will lead you through a mixed forest high above the Asi Ganga and then into a side valley that leads to Dodital. On the third day of your journey, you will hike for around six hours and ascend to an altitude of 11,000 feet. After getting a glimpse of the Gujar hamlet, you should make your way through the dense backwoods, which are filled with rhododendron, oak, pine, and bamboo.

↬ Itinerary
Day 1: Dehradun to Agoda Village arrival
The first day of the trip is set aside for the adventurers to travel from Dehradun to the lovely hamlet of Agoda, located in the Bhatwari Tehsil of Uttarkashi. Agoda is also the location of the expedition’s base camp. If you have made arrangements with Bikat for transportation from Dehradun to Agoda, we will meet you in the early morning hours at the location that has been selected as the meeting place. The journey to Agoda gives breathtaking vistas of the rugged mountains the whole way. On the route to Mussoorie, taking the fork towards Dhanaulti will lead you further into the Garhwal region. From Chinyalisaur all the way up to a little hamlet called Maneri, the jade-colored Bhagirathi river may be seen in its whole and in striking detail. Pine trees shaped like cones line each side of the path. From this point, a lesser path leads off to Sangamchetti on the left, running parallel to the streams that feed into the Assi Ganga River. From Sangamchetti, the point where the Assi Ganga and the Varna rivers converge, we take a dirt track that winds its way steeply upwards to reach our basecamp village.
Day 2: Trek from Agoda to Dodital Lake
Today, our day will get underway at a very early hour. After a hearty breakfast, we leave the Agoda campground and go in the direction of the Dodital camping, which is located farther up the mountain. The path emerges from the woods to reveal an oak grove, and then continues on to include many thousand steps cut into the side of a massive rock face. After passing through a short section of silver oak forest, we will arrive at one of Uttarkashi’s most remote areas. A calming atmosphere can be felt all the way up to Bhebra village thanks to the alluring aroma that is released by the oak trees.

After climbing over a boulder field and a number of streams, the path begins to ascend at a more severe angle over the following four km. There is also a longer parallel route, but the steeper one is the one that you should take if you want to get at the campground at a respectable hour. After stopping for lunch at the Manjhi village, we resume our journey in the direction of Dodital. After leaving Manjhi, the winding trail has a somewhat gentler incline to follow. The presence of a few trickling streams among the thick vegetation adds to the allure of this path today. The campground for the day is located on a bluff that views out over Dodital Lake; to say the least, the scenery is breathtaking. We make it here before the sun goes down. After the snacks, supper will be served in the dining tent. Because it has been such a long day, we go straight to bed after dinner in order to get the much-needed rest that we have earned. During the middle of December, the overnight temperatures at this campground can drop to as low as -15 degrees Celsius.
Day 3: Trek from Dodital Lake to Darwa Pass to back
We get an early start this morning to begin our journey to Darwa Pass. To get to the next campground will require us to climb around 1,127 metres higher than where we are now camped. This is a significant task. After a hearty breakfast and a last check to ensure that we are wearing the appropriate amount of clothing, we make our way towards the mountain pass, which is blanketed in snow for the better part of the year. Because we are required to return to the same campsite, we bring only the items that are absolutely necessary for this journey in a day pack and leave our larger backpacks behind at the campsite. The path that leads from Dodital to Darwa Pass is covered in a dense layer of foliage and firmly guarded by golden oak trees. Early on in the journey, a number of streams that were created by the snow melting on the pass can be seen running down the path. As we continue to climb, the scenery behind us changes from a background of lakes to one that includes the massive mountains of the Garhwal range. As we climb higher, the amount of available water begins to decrease. The journey up Darwa Pass becomes more difficult as you get closer to the summit. Darwa Pass provides mesmerizing views of Mt. Srikanth Peak, Deoli, Bandarpoonch, DraupadikaDanda and Hanuman Ganga Valley. We begin our descent after spending some time on the pass so that we may get at camp in plenty of time before the day’s light begins to wane. Before continuing on all the way down to our campground, we stop somewhere along the road to get some rest and eat the lunch that we brought with us. After that, we go on all the way down. In most cases, we do not get at the campground until the late afternoon. The evening continues with snacks and games all the way up to an early supper, after which everyone retires to bed. The next day is also going to be a very lengthy one.
Day 4: Trek from Dodital Lake to Agoda
Today, we will be setting out from Dodital Lake in the direction of our guesthouse in Agoda village, which served as the trek’s starting point. In order to reach here, we follow the same path that we did the day before. After a short warm-up and a substantial and delectable meal, we pay a visit to the Ganesha temple before beginning our descent. As we make our way back via the beautiful route that winds through the forests and tiny streams of the Assi Ganga river, we reminisce about our time spent in the mountains and trade our own unique tales of adventure that we had while on the walk in the company of the trees. After arriving at Agoda, evening refreshments and a briefing will take place before to dinner. After supper, we relax and chat with the other hikers for a little before heading to bed.
Day 5: Trek from Agoda to Uttarkashi to Dehradun drive
After we have finished our breakfast, we get into our cab and it drives us to Dehradun. Given that the travel would take us 9 hours, we could decide to break for lunch somewhere along the route. If you have decided to book your return journey to Dehradun with Bikat Adventures, our departure time is at around 10 AM each morning. Anticipate arriving in Dehradun sometime in the late evening. You are free to make the necessary preparations for the next leg of your travel. Because travels on mountain roads are notoriously unpredictable, we strongly advise that you schedule your departure from Dehradun for the day after tomorrow rather than the day before.
